(Testing, inspection and maintenance of the NFPA fire alarm networks). The number of visits recommended by the NFPA norms, the R\u00e9gie du b\u00e2timent du Qu\u00e9bec, your insurance company and the federal, provincial and municipal laws is one per year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The fire alarm control panel inspection includes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A visual and physical inspection of the wiring, connectors, plug-in components, lamps and other component parts in order to ensure that their mechanical and electrical installation and connection are operational.<\/li>\n<li>The dry cleaning of all the fire alarm control panel\u2019s components<\/li>\n<li>The verification of the lights\u2019 operation and brightness<\/li>\n<li>The proper identification of areas with a clear and visible key<\/li>\n<li>The triggering of different controls to ensure that they are functioning properly<\/li>\n<li>The stimulation of a grounding, a short circuit, and an open circuit in the control panel on every detection and signalisation area in order to ensure the proper supervision of internal and external circuits.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that the fire alarm\u2019s power circuits are appropriate and identified, and are equipped with adequate and non-vulnerable fuses or breakers.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that the batteries are not damaged, that the reloading system operates normally and protects the batteries against a possible overload.<\/li>\n<li>The verification of each of the fire alarm\u2019s batteries so that they may carry the load according to norms in case of a main supply failure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Manual stations<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Pull all the manual stations while checking that they are functioning properly<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that all the glass is in place and works properly<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that the manual stations have no physical damage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Alarm signals<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Check that all alarm bells or horns are in working order<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that the installation and assembly do not interfere with the fire alarm\u2019s signals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Thermal detectors<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The verification of each thermal detector by applying a heat source<\/li>\n<li>The verification of the thermal detectors to ensure that they not be covered in paint or damaged<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Heat detectors<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure that the heat detector is in normal operating mode<\/li>\n<li>Dry clean each heat detector<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that each smoke detector is triggered when a heat source is applied<\/li>\n<li>Adjusting the sensitivity if need be<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the end of the inspection, the major defects discovered during the inspection will be signaled to the owner, who has the responsibility of fixing them.
